Carol Wier; RN, MHS, GNP, BC
For over 30 years I have enjoyed clinical and healthcare executive experience. Awarded my BSN from the University of Illinois, I later earned my Gerontological Nurse Practitioner certificate from the University of Colorado, and the Master of Healthcare Systems from the University of Denver. I am attracted to geriatric medicine because of the strong interpersonal relationships that are built with older patients. Wellness and disease prevention have been areas of personal interest.
My experience in acute care, long-term care, home care, clinics, and educational programs with focus in geriatrics have all been rich experiences. Additionally I have worked in geriatric care management, chronic disease and palliative care programs. I am active in the beautiful outdoors of Colorado hiking, biking, and skiing. I am a seasoned world traveler and enjoy spending time with my three daughters and grandchildren.
Jan Hartley, GNP
As a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner I appreciate working with seniors because they provide unique challenges every day and I so enjoy their stories.
My nursing career began in high school where I worked as an aide in the local nursing home, Silver Gardens, in Silverton, Oregon. I graduated from the University of Oregon Health Science Center in Portland with a BSN. My nurse practitioner schooling was in Denver. In 1981 I earned my Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Certification.
My geriatric experience has included working as a GNP in senior clinics in both Denver and Boulder, as Director of Beth Israel and then St Anthony’s Senior Health Centers in Denver, as Boulder County’s Ombudsman, and in Palliative Care. I have seen patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Boulder County since the mid 1990’s, over 10 years as a self-employed GNP.
Although an Oregonian I have lived in Colorado since 1978 where I enjoy the outdoors every chance I get.
